There are many Pancreatic Diseases which require surgery. Chronic pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas that does not heal or improve—it gets more harmful over time and leads to permanent damage. The most common cause is long-term alcohol intake – it is thought to account for between 70 and 80 per cent of all cases.

It is noteworthy to mention that his research paper titled "The research output from Indian medical institutions between 2005 and 2014" has been widely cited (34) by other writers, has been in news in over 50+ Indian newspapers, international newspapers, and editorial was written in prestigious journals. This study was reported for the very 1st time in the world.


Most commonly seen problems :

1. Acute Pancreatitis - surgery called Necrosectomy( removal of bad tissues) may be done in selected cases by laparoscopy or open approach.
2. Chronic Pancreatitis - there many indications in which patient may require surgery like intractable pain, gastric outlet obstruction, biliary obstruction. Surgery provide long lasting relief unlike endoscopic or pharmacological management.
3. Cancer - Depending on the site of tumor different surgeries can be planned. whipple's surgery is most commonly performed surgery for cancer head of pancreas in which part of stomach, duodenum, pancreas and jejunum is removed.
4. Other diseases - like pancreatic pseudocyst, trauma, cyst, NET requires treatment depending on the clinical history and imaging findings.
